FIRST at Yale (FaY) is a student organization whose mission is to keep the Yale community engaged with FIRST® robotics and to develop a community of students who promote STEM.
Remote mentoring through FIRST Office Hours
FIRST Office Hours is FaY’s global outreach initiative that connects the Yale FIRST alumni community with FLL, FTC, and FRC teams all over the world. FaY matches alumni with teams and organizes remote mentoring sessions through video conferencing platforms and social media.
Supporting the FIRST Global Challenge
FIRST Global Challenge is an annual “Olympics”-style robotics competition where each nation is invited to send one team to participate in a challenge talking global issues such as water, energy, security, medicine, food, and education. FaY partners with FIRST Global to mentor several national teams each season.
Supporting local FIRST events and teams
FaY members are volunteers and mentors for teams and events both in the greater New Haven area and in their hometowns. Additionally, FaY has sent representatives to events such as the FRC New York City Regional, FIRST Championship (Detroit), and the 2018 FIRST Global Challenge (Mexico City).
